Irish Experience
In 2019, Lindsey wrapped up her final classes at the University of West Florida with her study abroad experience in Carlow, Ireland. For a month she and a team of creative spirits traversed the southern regions of Ireland and created works inspired by the rich natural landscapes.
Separated from her daily life and an unfamiliar painting medium, Lindsey was offered a new perspective on life: slow and gentle. This experience allowed Lindsey to reconnect with her love for nature and focus on the practice of creating.
It was an exciting realization that she could fit art into every nook and cranny of her day. Much of this work was done on the go, whether on a train, in the middle of walking down a street, or even hiking in the mountains. All she needed was a sketchbook and something to draw with so she could return to the studio and paint the world.
Though there were so many amazing people she met, Mary Cullen Kelly and Jacinta Crowley, to name a few, she found quiet connections with the animals and landscapes of Ireland. These works were placed in the St. Mary’s Church Irish Experience Pop-up show in Carlow, Ireland and later showcased in the Irish Experience Exhibition in the Art Gallery at the University of West Florida. Both exhibitions were to showcase the artist's personal experience of Ireland and share the various ways an artist can maximize their experience when traveling abroad.
